Our History

Founded by Adam, we first opened our doors for business in 2011, after he completed a ten-year stint working in corporate communications and investor relations in the City.  By all accounts it had been a fun ride but it was time for a change.

For Adam, that change meant taking a more sector specific, specialist approach - developing deeper roots in a number of fast growth international energy markets.

Back then, he had some early experience of working with a number of businesses in the renewable energy space.  The market was young (he maintains that relatively speaking, it still is!) and the potential for development – in every sense – was huge.

So Adam left a well-paying City job to start something new.  That something was Tamarindo. 

 

Back when we started Adam also established, invested in and built the exclusive finance and investor community known as A Word About Wind.

Building the platform, from scratch, taught him a thing or two or about the true state of renewable energy investment – it also built some trusted relationships along the way.  These days the business is a standalone company that forms a core part of our parent company, The Tamarindo Group.

 

And what’s in the name?  Well, immediately following his departure, Adam got chucked on gardening leave.  As a result, he did what any sane person would do and headed out to Costa Rica, to see out his non-compete clause and chew things over.  The place he settled into – and where the real idea for the business was born – was a town called Tamarindo. 

Years on – and with an established, ambitious and growing team –  he rattles out that same story to every new recruit and assures us all that one day, we’ll pay the place a visit.
